OITIJ-JO: What Next?

In Autumn 2012, following the London Olympics, a few of us were talking and asked the question: why isn't there more representation/ visibility of Bangladeshi and British-Bangladeshi creative talent in the UK and globally? Especially when there is so much talent present and such a rich heritage?

That’s when we decided we needed to tell our own stories, shape our own narrative, and stop waiting to be invited to the table.

The festival that took place in February 2013, was a collaboration of over 100 people, from all walks of life, who came together to decide what we could do and how we could do it. The event took place in the Barge House over a weekend. And it gave birth to the OITIJ-JO creative platform.

In September 2023, we celebrated 10 years of OITIJ-JO.

2024 - the world has changed in so many ways. It is time for us to reflect, review and reassess the landscape around us. As we move forward we want you to tell us (like you did in 2012/2013), what is needed and wanted? What should OITIJ-JO be doing, going forward?

Please help support OITIJ-JO by filling out our survey here or below. Your response helps us and the wider community. Also, all those who complete the survey will get a special thanks from us.

Thank you.
