ELO MELO - Festival Celebrating Bengali Arts & Culture at Whitechapel Gallery

Videography & Editing by Kate S and Samuel Sierra.

It’s been 10 years since our inaugural festival held at the Bargehouse in London South Bank, in 2013. You can read more about it and see documentation here. So, since last year we were dreaming of celebrating this milestone with another bang. So came ELO MELO festival in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery, members of the local tower hamlets community and wider Bengali and creative communities, on 9th September 2023. We were blessed with sunshine, warmth and incredible vibes from all of the different people and faces who participated and showed up.

For ELO MELO we had a hugely dense programme of live music, films, talks, workshops, dance, spoken word, DJs and food. Not to forget our incredible security for the night from Safe Only, who also helped facilitate the quiet/sensory space in the gallery.
